A race car birthday theme is a rite of passage for all little boys. Whether it’s Cars the movie, matchbox cars, vintage cars or any sort of race car, your birthday boy will be ready to race with these race car birthday decorations.
My son is obsessed with race cars. In fact, this was his second race car birthday party! His first race car party was when he was two and was based on the Cars movie. Check out the picture below. I made little race cars for all the kids out of paper boxes, and we created a race track in the backyard.
This year, he turned nine and wanted something a little bit faster and sleeker. I based my designs on F1 cars since those are his favorite race cars. And I tried to keep it simple because let’s face it, boy’s don’t really care about the decorations!
Birthday Banner
I started with a simple pennant banner in the colors to match the party. I used a clean, modern font on gold card stock. I also used double-sided foam tape to add depth to the banner and really make the letters stand out.
Cake Topper
I found a great svg. file for the race car. My son was turning 9 so naturally that was the car number. And all fast cars are red! I did make the car out of glitter card stock just to add a little more speed! He opted for a cookie cake so I had to trim the treat sticks down, but this could easily go on top of a regular cake.
Cupcake Toppers
I followed the race car theme with mini-personalized race cars, a number 9 and racing flags with my son's name. I used the double-sided foam tape on all of these to make them stand out on the cupcakes.
Treat Bag Tags
I used the same race car design on the treat bag tags. It really kept the party and images consistent. And of course, they were personalized with his name and age. I used the double-sided foam tape in between the two circle and also on the race car.
Centerpieces
I don't offer centerpieces in my Etsy shop, but I've always made something for my kid's parties. Theses were simple and just tied the party together well.
