7 Ways to Personalize your Graduation Party

Graduation season is upon us! This year seems even more important and special after all of the uncertainty and disruptions of this past year. Our graduates deserve a celebration in their honor, and one that is personalized just for them. Graduation decorations are just the start. We’ve come up with ideas to personalize your graduation party and make it truly unique.

1. Personalized Graduation Cupcake and Cake Toppers

For starters, these personalized graduation cupcake and cake toppers are a great way to give your graduation party a unique feel. The graduation cupcake toppers can be customized with your graduate’s name, school colors and high school or college name. Visit my Etsy shop for more pictures and information.

2. Create a Graduation Photo Banner

Dig out all of your graduates old yearbook pictures and create a photo board that will take everyone on a trip down memory lane. Another idea is to just choose some of your favorite candid shots from birth to senior year.

3. Hashtags, Photographs or a Photo Booth

Create a unique hashtag for your graduate so graduation party guests can post to social media. Do this ahead of time and include it on the graduation party invitation so friends and family can start posting some of their favorite pictures. Create instant memories by placing polaroid cameras around the party, encouraging guests to take a few pictures and clip them to a display board. These polaroid pictures could also be used as a guest book in which guests could snap, stick and sign the page. Another fun idea is renting a photo booth, or creating a photo area of your own with a graduation banner and props.

4. Wish Tree or a Digital Tribute

Ask guests for their words of wisdom, college survival tips or just congratulations with a wish tree. Rather than, just throwing advice in a jar that the graduate may or may not read, use this tree at part of your graduation decorations. Paint a large tree branch and secure it in a vase. Provide guests with small tags to write on and hang on the tree. An alternative is to create a digital tribute using an online service like Tribute. Friends and family can upload videos, sharing memories and congratulations.

5. High School Memorabilia Board

Pick out pictures, trophies, accomplishments, letter jackets, jerseys or anything that serves as a memory from high school. Create a display and use it as part of your graduation party decorations. It’s also fun to include some little known things about the graduate such as favorite movies, career aspirations or silly moments from their childhood.

6. Graduate’s Favorite Foods

This is a simple one, but the food at the party should be some of the graduate’s favorite things. Yes, even if it’s a candy bar or hot dogs! This graduation party is for them so give them what they like. Depending on the time of day, you could serve a full meal, host a bar or just have snacks. The easiest foods are things guests can serve themselves...taco bars, snacks and finger foods or a dessert bar.

7. Personalized Graduation Party Gifts

Give everyone a simple, but custom party gift as a thank you for sharing your graduate’s special day. A few of our favorites include custom printed cups or koozies that could be used at the graduation party and then taken home. A sweet treat like a custom decorated cookie or a candy bar with custom tie tags. One of my favorite thank you gifts are small succulents, personalized with plant stakes and a memory you share with that family or person.
